The Gyreum is where you are based for one week to enjoy/ endure 5 days of varied cycling. From the the sweat houses of Lough Allen, to the UFO region of North Roscommon to the megalithic cairns of Carrowkeel to the Lake Isle of Inishfree to the desolation of the Ox Mountains - you will have a mix of rigorous mornings, leisurely afternoons and pleasurable evenings.
As you rise out of the Midland s - and feel the first savagery of the North West - that is where the Gyreum nestles. Your home for a week is this 100ft wide wooden teletubby-like edifice overlooking Lough Arrow in rural south Sligo. It's aligned to 3 solar events pointing toward the megalithic cairns of Moytura, Carrowkeel and Queen MaeveŽs mound atop Knocknarae.
Optional mostly evening activities include dusk trout fishing on Lough Arrow, seaweed bath at Strandhill, bingo in Gleann Hall, evensong with the Carmelite nuns of Drumshanbo, clay pigeon shooting at Lough Bo. Diddle dee idle music in the Bogside Inn. Visit to the local organic and crafts market at Boyle and on the last night a recital in the acoustic tone perfect central hall of the Gyreum.
